Dominican singer Johnny Ventura has passed away. His son Jandy Ventura announced the news regarding his father's death. Johnny was 81 and reportedly died of a heart attack. While fans mourn the loss of the iconic singer and renowned politician, let us take you through his net worth and fortune.
The Dominican Republic officials shared a tweet in Spanish, announcing the demise of the legendary singer. The tweet read, "The Ministry of Culture deeply regrets the death of the great Dominican musician Johnny Ventura. We join the pain that overwhelms his family in these difficult times. His legacy will live on forever in his songs and Dominican culture."
According to Idol Net Worth, Johnny had an estimated net worth of $6 million. Johnny had established himself both in the music industry and politics.
He stepped into music in 1959 and went on to create some of the biggest hits of all time. Some of his famous tracks include Capulla y Sorullo, Que Se Sepa, La Rubia and La Vida vs la Muerte among others. Meanwhile, he was elected as the mayor of Santo Domingo in 1998.
In an interview with lawyer Lenis Garcia, talking about his political career, Johnny had said, "What does an artist have that does not allow him to be part of the solutions to his country's problems? The artist is more sensitive than most human beings, it is scientifically proven, this means that such a sensitive person suffers more from bad actions that are done in politics."
Johnny is survived by his wife Nelly Josefina Flores and seven children. The late Dominican singer is said to have 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He and Nelly were married for 50 years.
While not much is known about his health prior to death, the singer had announced in March 2020 that he was diagnosed with COVID-19. On April 13, 2020 he made another announcement saying he was tested negative for the coronavirus.
