police shot and killed two pit bulls after the dogs attacked three people on Tuesday morning, authorities said.
Police were called to the 300 block of Amity Street around 7:40 a.m. after receiving a report that pit bulls were fighting in a yard, an Elizabeth spokeswoman said.
Three adults were taken to a local hospital to be treated for hand injuries. A teenage boy was not injured, but also went to a hospital to be checked.
A third dog also involved wasn't shot, the spokeswoman said.
It wasn't immediately clear who owned the dogs or if the person would face charges.
