Teams promoted to Premier League 2023

Everyone knows that promotion to the Premier League is a lucrative achievement for teams in the Championship, the second tier of English football.

The top two finishers in the Championship table earn automatic promotion to the Premier League, while the next four sides duke it out for the final spot in a playoff knockout bracket.

Last season's relegated sides from the Premier League were Burnley, Watford, and Norwich City, and all have fared very differently in the quest for a quick return back to the top flight.

Burnley have already confirmed promotion back to the Premier League next season, while Norwich are fighting for a playoff spot, and Watford are lagging back in the middle of the table.

The Sporting News brings you a full and updated look at the playoff picture as it stands with the season nearing a conclusion.

Burnley have already secured promotion to the Premier League as well as the Championship title, confirming their place atop the table with a 1-0 win over Blackburn on April 25. They have established an unassailable lead, with second-place Sheffield United unable to catch up with four matches left.

Sheffield United, who were relegated from the Premier League in 2020/21, followed right behind them, clinching a spot in the top flight with a 2-0 victory over West Brom on April 26, just one day after Burnley secured the crown.

Finally, the teams that finished in 3rd through 6th will qualify for the playoffs, which will produce the third team to earn a Premier League place next season.

Luton Town and Middlesbrough are certain of two of the four playoff berths, with eight other teams in contention for the other two playoff berths and only two matches remaining for most teams.
